Clairton — The third annual art exhibit and sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Clairton Library, 616 Miller Ave. The sale, sponsored by the Friends of Clairton Library, will feature works in a variety of media and styles, some available for purchase. A ticket auction, with art-related prizes, also is part of the exhibit. Proceeds will benefit the library. Admission is free, and light complimentary refreshments will be available.
Peters — The Upper St. Clair League for the Arts will hold a gallery art show Saturday through April 26 at the Lois Guinn Framing & Art Gallery, 3339 Washington Road. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
Brentwood — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will have Easter fun day, featuring crafts, an Easter egg hunt, egg dyeing and a light lunch for children ages 2 and older from 10 a.m. to noon April 19 at the church at 4048 Brownsville Road. The event is free, but children are asked to bring a half-dozen hard-boiled eggs for dyeing.
Jefferson Hills — Registration for the borough's summer recreation camp will take place during regular library hours April 15 through June 2 at the Jefferson Hills Library, 925 Old Clairton Road. The camp is for children ages 5 through 12 who live in Jefferson Hills or West Elizabeth. Cost is $30 a child for the camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon from July 7-31. Bethel Park — The Bethel Park Lions will have their annual White Cane Day solicitation to raise funds for blind/vision-impaired charities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at the South Park Shops. Lions members will be wearing orange apron vests.
Pleasant Hills — A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Pleasant Hills Borough Building community room, 410 E. Bruceton Road. Cost: $6 for adults; $4 for children ages 5 to 10; free for children younger than 5. Proceeds benefit the Thomas Jefferson String Ensemble.
Uptown — Marine Sgt. Ryan Lane of Castle Shannon, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in July 2009, will be remembered during the fifth Ryan's Run at 10 a.m. Saturday at Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave. with proceeds going toward an endowed resource fund in Sgt. Lane’s name that provides student veterans with financial assistance. Entry fee is $20. Jefferson Hills — The West Jefferson Hills School District board of directors will hold public interviews for architectural firms to assist in the design and construction of a new high school at 6 p.m. April 16 and 21 in the Pleasant Hills Middle School’s large-group instruction room, 404 Old Clairton Road.
Pleasant Hills — Author Stephen Mulligan will talk about memories of Three Rivers Stadium and the Civic Arena at noon next Thursday during a meeting of the Retired Men’s Luncheon Group of Pleasant Hills in the fellowship hall of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road. Jefferson Hills – State Rep. Rick Saccone, R-Elizabeth Township, will speak about House Bill 1728, the “In God We Trust” bill, at 7 p.m. April 23 in the community room of the Jefferson Hills Municipal Center, 925 Old Clairton Road.
Mount Oliver — Nazareth Housing Services, along with PNC Community Development Banking, will offer free talks for home buyers from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday as well as April 22 and 29.
