A Clairton man charged with kidnapping a 9-month-old boy last month, prompting an Amber Alert broadcast across the Pittsburgh region, waived his right to a preliminary hearing today, online court records show.

Alexander S. Frazier, 27, remained in the Beaver County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail on charges of kidnap to facilitate a felony, interfering with the custody of a child and concealing the whereabouts of a child, according to online court records.

The infant, Carter Speelman, was taken shortly before 8 p.m. Nov. 7 from his grandmother's Morado Dwellings home, Beaver Falls police Chief Charles R. Jones Jr. said.

Mr. Frazier claims to be the baby's father, the chief said last month, but he isn't listed on child's birth certificate, and the mother identified someone else.
