A man was injured in a shooting early this morning in Uniontown.

Uniontown police went to the 200 block of Coolspring Street shortly before 1 a.m. for a report that shots had been fired. Officers learned that a vehicle hit a telephone pole and a man had been shot, police said in a press release.

Officers found the man, whom they identified as Paul Walden Sr., near 55 Connellsville St. with a gunshot wound to his right wrist, police said.

He was taken by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. His condition was not available this morning.

Mr. Walden told police he and a man were riding around Coolspring and Austin streets when he heard shots and bullets hitting his vehicle. He kept driving then struck the phone pole, before both he and the passenger got out and ran away, police said.

Officers saw multiple bullet holes in the front windshield, police said.
