North Versailles man killed himself, wife fatally shot, ME's office says



A North Versailles man found dead inside his home Tuesday killed himself and his wife's death was a homicide, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said today.

Mark Hoey, 48, died of a single shotgun wound to the abdomen and his wife, Erin Hoey, 45, died of a shotgun wound to the left shoulder, according to the medical examiner's office.

North Versailles police went to the couple's home on Thomas Avenue about 8 a.m. Tuesday after one of Mr. Hoey's coworkers called 911 concerned that Mr. Hoey had not shown up for work that morning.

When police arrived, they found Mr. and Ms. Hoey dead inside.

Allegheny County homicide detectives, who are leading the investigation, have released few details about the deaths.
