A number of Comcast customers are without service in the South Hills this evening due to an accident earlier today in Castle Shannon, according to the cable provider.

The outage affects television, phone and Internet service.

Comcast spokesman Bob Grove said a truck accidentally pulled wires down at Route 88 and Grove Road this afternoon, causing the outage.

"Our crews immediately began the repair process and continue to work as quickly as possible to restore service to all affected customers," Mr. Grove said.

He did not have an estimate on the total number of customers affected.

He added that many subscribers have had their television service restored.
