Budget meetings scheduled

Council will hold three public meetings in chambers to solicit members' and public input on what should comprise the 2014 budget:

Oct. 16, discussion of expenditures; Oct. 28, discussion of capital improvements; Nov. 18, discussion of revenues. All meetings are at 7 p.m.

NORTH STRABANE

Casino adds poker room, banquet space

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino last week relocated its new poker room to the main casino floor and created a new banquet space.

The new poker room with 15 tables opened Friday. The banquet space, which holds 300 at a seated dinner and 500 in theater setting, opens Sept.15.

The enhancements were done as part of a $25 million expansion project over the past two years. Other improvements include a new parking garage, access road improvements and the purchase of adjacent property for a retail project.

SOUTH FAYETTE SCHOOLS

Band festival scheduled

South Fayette High School will host its 33rd annual Festival of Bands at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 in the stadium.

Participating marching bands are Avella, Carlynton, Chartiers Valley, Cornell, Fort Cherry, Peters, Pine-Richland, Pittsburgh Obama, Quaker Valley, Upper St. Clair - and South Fayette's Little Green Machine.

Tickets are $7, $5 for students and senior citizens. Senior Gold Card holders are admitted free.
