Here are some of the community celebrations this holiday:

Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair -- A joint fireworks display will be launched at dusk Thursday from the Port Authority South Hills trolley station behind South Hills Village, rain or shine, courtesy of the mall and the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Details: and

Brentwood -- The borough will celebrate Thursday, beginning with the 30th Annual Brentwood Firecracker 5K Race at 9 a.m. at Brentwood Towne Square. At 10 a.m., a flyover will usher in the parade, which will step off at Brownsville and Sankey avenues. A raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m. at the municipal building, followed by fireworks at 9:40 p.m. Rain date for fireworks is Friday. Details:

Dormont -- The borough will celebrate the Fourth with its community day and its centennial celebration at Dormont Park, Dormont Avenue. Activities begin at 10 a.m. Thursday and include bands, bingo, games and food vendors. Fireworks go off at 9:30 p.m. Rain date for fireworks is Friday. Details:

Green Tree -- Green Tree Athletic Association will hold its annual coed adult softball game at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hemlock Field. Cost is $120 for a team of up to 12 players; proceeds will benefit charity. After the game, festivities will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Wilson Park Swimming Pool, including a flag raising, music, games, inflatables, face painting, temporary tattoos, raffles, music by a disc jockey and swimming. Free admission; no pool passes required. Pool closes at 5 p.m.

McKeesport -- The city will start its celebration at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lions Band Shell in Renziehausen Park. Activities will include a concert by Tres Lads and fireworks at dusk. Details:

Mt. Lebanon -- Games, amusements and food will be offered from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Lebanon Park. Evening activities include a concert by Jeff Jimerson and Airbourne, featuring Vanessa Campagna, followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Rain date for the concert and fireworks is Friday. Scott -- The traditional Fourth fete starts at 11 a.m. Thursday at the pool. Activities include water races, a rubber ducky race, contests, raffles, prizes and girls and boys softball and baseball games. The pool will close at 6 p.m. and reopen from 7 to 10 p.m. for fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Details:
