At least one person was taken to a local hospital this afternoon after a car collided with a Port Authority light-rail train.

An Allegheny County Dispatch supervisor said the car ran into the train at 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Hillsdale and Belrose Avenue in Dormont. No one on the train was injured, but the driver of the vehicle reported minor injuries, said Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie. A passenger who had a preexisting medical condition was taken to a local hospital.

Mr. Ritchie said the Port Authority shut down Red Line service for about an hour following the accident and diverted all other rail service to the Blue Line. He said Port Authority police are investigating the cause of the accident.
