West Mifflin police have obtained an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old man accused of shooting a 17-year-old girl on Sunday.

The warrant charges Daniel Greer with aggravated assault, attempted homicide and firearms violations, among other offenses, police said in a press release.

Police said he left the scene of the shooting in a burgundy or reddish vehicle with front-end and passenger-side damage, including a missing passenger side rearview mirror. That vehicle was recovered today, parked on a public street in Duquesne, West Mifflin police Chief Kenneth Davies said this afternoon.

Mr. Greer is from the Mon Valley, with family in Homestead and Clairton.

"We are familiar with him," Chief Davies said, noting Mr. Greer has a juvenile record.

West Mifflin police responded to a call in the 800 block of Division Street shortly after 1:15 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, the girl was lying on the road suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

She was taken to UPMC Mercy and is expected to recover. Her condition today was not immediately available.

Three vehicles were damaged following the gunfire, police said, and Mr. Greer struck one as he was leaving.

Police asked anyone with information to call West Mifflin detectives at 412-461-3125.
