Bridgeville Borough council voted unanimously last night to advertise an ordinance cutting the real-estate tax rate for 2013 from the current 6.75 mills to 5.50 mills, a 22 percent reduction.

With the reduction, the borough hopes to keep within the 5 percent windfall requirement allowed for municipalities after the countywide property reassessment.

If receipts exceed the windfall requirement, they will be allocated to sanitary sewer capital improvement projects, according to the proposed ordinance.
