Girl Scouts in Cadette Troop 50557 in Upper St. Clair tasted the "sweet" recognition of creativity with their award-winning entry in the recently concluded 10th annual PPG Place Gingerbread House Display and Competition Downtown.

Scouts, who are students at Boyce Middle School, took second place for nonprofits with their Camp Kennywood entry. The exhibit was made with fondant, pretzels, coconut and various candies and included sculptures of local landmarks, such as the Racer, Potato Patch and the iconic Kennywood sign. The award marked the second PPG Place win for the Troop 50557.

Troop members are Mia Collis, Olivia Debski, Lauren DeShields, Alexis Feldman, Claire Leonard, Jenna McKenney, Brooklyn Pica, Taylor Quinn, Helen Ritter and Caroline Wolfe. Leaders are Kris Ritter and Dawn Pica.
