The Indiana County coroner's office has released the autopsy results of a miner who was crushed and trapped by a rock as he was installing roof bolts in Rosebud Mining Company's Heilwood Mine on Friday afternoon.
Todd Trimble, 29, of Gallitzin, Cambria County, died from crushing injuries of the head, a news release from the coroner's office said. His death was ruled accidental.
The accident occurred inside the Heilwood mine at 6314 Route 403 Highway North just after 2 p.m. on Friday, the coroner's office said.
Mr. Trimble's co-workers managed to free him and return him to the surface at approximately 3:25 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:20 p.m.
John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana County is handling Mr. Trimble's funeral arrangements, the coroner's office said.
According to the release, state police and several mining agencies investigated the circumstances of the accident, and no further information regarding the accident is currently available.
