Southbound traffic will be shifted at the site of a bridge replacement project on Interstate 79 in Butler County today, PennDOT announced.

Work to eliminate the crossover that took southbound traffic to the northbound side will occur through 3 p.m., and is expected to cause delays and traffic stoppages. While southbound traffic is being returned to the southbound side, the single-lane traffic pattern will remain in effect through late September, according to PennDOT.

The work is part of a $14 million, two-year project to replace the twin spans on I-79 at U.S. 422 in Muddycreek. The project is scheduled to be completed this fall.
