Flash flood watch issued for Westmoreland, Fayette counties

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Westmoreland and Fayette counties starting at 5 p.m. today.

The watch also applies to Garrett County in western Maryland and Tucker, Preston, Monongalia and Marion counties in northern West Virginia.

The weather service said heavy rain already has saturated the ground in many areas and that showers and storms would form late this afternoon and evening. The watch continues through 7 a.m. Sunday.
