Allegheny County courts will now accept credit and debit cards for bail payments, officials said this week.

People who wish to pay bail connected to cases in Allegheny County's Magisterial District Courts and Common Pleas Court can make payments using "PAePay Bail" at https://ujsportal.pacourts.us/Bail/Default.aspx. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and ATM cards will be accepted in amounts up to $20,000, and a $2.75 processing fee will apply.

Court administrators said in a news release that they expect "this new payment option will reduce jail commitments and costs associated with transportation."
