Income limits increased for WIC assistance

Income limits for the federally funded Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program increased July 1, the Allegheny County Health Department said today.

The new limits are an annual gross income of $21,590 for a family of one; $29,101 for a family of two; $36,612 for a family of three; $44,123 for a family of four; $51,634 for a family of five; $59,145 for a family of six; $66,656 for a family of seven; and $74,167 for a family of eight. An additional $7,511 can be added for each additional family member beyond eight.

An unborn child is counted when the woman is pregnant.

Families in the program receive nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support and vouchers redeemable for food ranging from infant formula to juice to fruits and vegetables.
