The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man placed an empty box on county Executive Rich Fitzgerald's car at the courthouse Downtown last week.

The incident happened at about 3:35 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff's office said in a news release today.

Surveillance footage showed a man walked around the courthouse property for about five minutes before leaving the box on Mr. Fitzgerald's car.

The box was examined by courthouse guards and found to be empty, the news release said.

Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus said there was nothing written on the box.

The sheriff's office has released photographs of the man, with the hope of identifying him. People who recognize the man should call the sheriff's office at 412-350-4714.
