Flash flood watch issued for Allegheny County, region to north and west

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a flash flood watch for Allegheny County and several counties to the north and west of the city, in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

Other Pennsylvania counties in the watch area include Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer and Venango.

The weather service said several rounds of showers and thunderstorms tonight through Wednesday afternoon will drop moderate to heavy rain on ground that already is saturated.
