Power outages reported after thunderstorm rolls through area

About 3,500 households and businesses were without power overnnight after a severe thunderstorm rolled through the Pittsburgh region late Wednesday.

Duquesne Light reported 300 customers were without power as of 10 a.m. Spokesman Brian Knavish said power to all customers was expected to be restored by 2 p.m. today. West Penn Power had about 200 customers in Allegheny County, 300 in Washington County and 1,000 in Westmoreland County without service.

The National Weather Service said it received reports of flooding in Venango and Jefferson counties, golf ball sized hail in Pleasantville in Venango County, and at least 47 trees down across the district.
