There was no tornado in Butler and Armstrong counties Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service concluded Thursday.

Amid swift gusts and heavy rain, there were only straight-lined winds, evidence of a microburst, said Brad Rehak, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. No twisting currents, necessary for a tornado, were recorded. Damage was limited to a number of downed trees, Mr. Rehak added.
