Special weather statement cites developing morning snow showers in Pittsburgh region

Welcome to spring. Sigh. Complete with morning snow showers.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a special weather statement, advising residents of counties from Mercer to Allegheny to Greene of a line of snow showers that will move across the region during the late portion of the morning.

The weather service said around 9:50 a.m. that snow showers were moving east out of the West Virginia panhandle at 30 mph that can reduce visibility to a mile or less in a short period.

The snow also may make some road surface slick.
