Traffic in the outbound Fort Pitt Tunnel will be restricted to a single lane starting at 10 p.m. today, as PennDOT continues inspection of the ceiling.

Two sections of the ceiling in the inbound tunnel were removed last week after they started to sag. Lane closures and a full closure of the tunnel caused major Parkway West jams on Friday after the ceiling problem was detected.

PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said inspections will continue on dates yet to be determined and the department will make a full assessment of the need for repairs.
