Several crashes reported after glaze of snow coats district

A crash involving at least one vehicle on Interstate 79 in Butler County closed the highway near Zelienople and Jackson this morning.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured. The crash happened around 7:35 a.m.in the southbound lanes of I-79 near Zelienople, a Butler County dispatcher said.

Pennsylvania State Police diverted traffic off the interstate at Exit 88/Little Creek Road. Route 19 also experienced delays.

Several other crashes occurred this morning after a glaze of snow fell on the district. Crashes were reported on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Cranberry and west of Monroeville; on the Parkway West inbound at Carnegie and outbound in Robinson; on the inbound Parkway North between I-79 and Camp Horne Road; on the Liberty Bridge; on Route 22-30 eastbound near Hankey Farms; on the ramp from the Parkway East to the Fort Pitt Bridge; in the Fort Pitt Tunnels; on Second Avenue near the Allegheny County Jail; and on Penn Avenue in Point Breeze.
