University of Pittsburgh trustees have scheduled a 9:30 a.m. special meeting Saturday, followed by a 4 p.m. meeting of the board's compensation committee.
Pitt spokesman Ken Service today declined to comment when asked whether the board was ready to name a new chancellor to replace Mark A. Nordenberg, who announced in June that he plans to step down Aug. 1.
In an update to the university community about a month ago,Stephen Tritch, chair of the board of trustees, announced the committee had a "very strong pool of candidates" and remained "on target" to name a new leader before Aug. 1.
A news release from Pitt this morning about the board meeting also said the university plans a press conference immediately after the board adjourns.
