The regional transmission operator for Duquesne Light is asking customers to conserve electricity today during peak hours of 6-9 a.m. and 3-7 p.m.

Customers can set thermostats lower than usual, postpone using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers and clothes dryers until midday or after 9 p.m., and turn off lights and appliances not in use.

The grid operator expects demand for electricity to reach a new winter record during this cold period.
