A cement truck driver was killed in Mercer County today when he lost control of his vehicle on Route 318, state police said.

James A. Minteer, 51, of New Castle was driving the cement truck west on Route 318 around 1:30 p.m. when he failed to follow a left curve in the road, traveled into a ditch and then re-entered the road. The truck then overturned and slid in both lanes of traffic until striking a Buick LeSabre, state police in Mercer said. The truck continued sliding on the road, and the car was pushed into a ditch.

Mr. Minteer was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.

The driver and uninjured passenger of the LeSabre were both wearing seat belts, state police said. The driver sustained minor injuries.
