State Sen. Jim Brewster will join the reconstituted Port Authority board of directors.

Mr. Brewster, D-McKeesport, was appointed to a four-year term on the unsalaried board by Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa Jr., D-Forest Hills.

Under a law passed this summer, the board is expanding to 11 members, with five appointed by the governor and legislative leaders, four by the Allegheny County executive and two by the minority party on county council.

The new board is scheduled to meet for the first time next month. The existing nine-member board, all appointed by the county executive, will hold what is likely to be its final meeting at 9:30 a.m. next Friday.
