As it continues to dry out from last week's torrential rains, the district will have some of the season's hottest weather this week.

The National Weather Service is forecasting highs in the low 90s for today through Wednesday, with only a small chance of rain on Tuesday during that period. Temperatures will back off just a little later in the week, and rain is possible again on Thursday night.

The city of Pittsburgh has opened four cooling centers to help senior citizens. Refreshments are provided at the sites, which will be open until 7 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. They are at 745 Greenfield Ave., Greenfield; 7321 Frankstown Ave., Homewood; the Market House, 12th and Bingham streets, South Side; and 720 Sherwood Ave., Sheraden.
