Allegheny County sheriff's deputies will padlock two bars today for nonpayment of the county's drink tax, Treasurer John Weinstein announced.

Gators, on Saxonburg Boulevard in Indiana Township, owes more than $32,500 in drink taxes. Centannis, on West Liberty Avenue in Beechview, is being closed for failing to pay nearly $5,500 in drink taxes.

The treasurer's office has closed 35 bars and filed lawsuits against 120 for failure to pay the county's 7 percent drink tax.

The tax, which originally was 10 percent when it was enacted in 2008, raises money to provide the county's share of funding for mass transit at the Port Authority.
