A Johnstown man has been charged with attempted homicide and other crimes after state police said he fired a shot through the window of a Cambria County police station this morning.

State police from the Ebensburg barracks said Kevin R. McGee, 45, drove a black Toyota Celica to the Richland Township Police Department about 10:30 a.m. and got out of the car armed with a shotgun. They said in a news release that Mr. McGee shot through the window of an empty, marked police car and then turned around.

One officer dialed for help while another tried to convince Mr. McGee to drop the weapon. Mr. McGee then pointed the weapon at the officers, one of whom fired, striking Mr. McGee in the stomach, state police said.

Medics took Mr. McGee to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where he was being treated today for his gunshot wound.

Neither of the officers were hurt.

Mr. McGee now faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer and other offenses.

State police are asking anyone who has had contact with Mr. McGee over the past few days or who has information about the incident to call them at 814-471-6500. breaking - region
