A Mount Washington woman who ran into a travel lane of the Parkway North in Franklin Park was struck and killed early Monday, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office and state police.

Heather Kuhn, 28, ran from the right berm into the right lane directly in front of a Chevy Uplander minivan driven by David Krull, 47, of Coraopolis, state police said. Ms. Kuhn’s body was thrown more than 200 feet by the impact.

The incident occurred about 3:55 a.m. on the northbound side of the parkway between Camp Horne Road and the junction with Interstate 79. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:14 a.m.

The medical examiner’s office said she died of multiple blunt force injuries to the head, trunk and extremities, and the manner of her death is pending a police investigation.

No charges were pending as of Monday morning, state police Trooper Robin Mungo said. Mr. Krull remained at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.
