The Mars Area school board Tuesday hired a consultant to evaluate district buildings and how to better house administrators.
Thomas & Williamson, a Ross firm, will receive $12,724 for the facilities study and cost analysis. Board President J. Dayle Ferguson said the study will analyze "all the nuts and bolts of a building," similar to a home inspection.
The board also opted to pay an additional $3,248 for Thomas & Williamson to study an expansion of district administrative offices. Administrators are currently housed in four different places.
The studies will run concurrently, and are expected to take four or five months.
