A Sharpsburg man was arrested Friday afternoon after assaulting a 7-year-old boy playing baseball in an empty grass lot near his home.
Ricky Lee Hura reportedly approached the boy and pinned him to a telephone pole, according to the criminal complaint. The boy managed to break free and attempted to run away to his Middle Street home. Witnesses reported Mr. Hura then attempted to chase the boy before a mailman and several other bystanders restrained him.
According to the complaint, Mr. Hura told police he had sniffed a gallon of paint thinner that day.
He was charged Friday with simple assault, reckless endangerment, illegal use of a substance and disorderly conduct.
