The search for a 40-year-old Penn Hills man who is presumed to have drowned in the Allegheny River on Sunday will continue this afternoon, but without the assistance of a dive team.

South Buffalo Fire Chief Randy Brozenick said Monday that the man, identified as Thomas Duane Uzmack, disappeared beneath the river when he slipped out of his unfastened life vest after his water scooter capsized.

The search will continue this afternoon as boats skim the river's surface for any sign of Mr. Uzmack. Debris at the bottom of the river and poor underwater visibility continue to hamper search efforts.

"There's an issue with the divers getting down there, getting stuck and getting wrapped up themselves," Chief Brozenick said. "Another issue is we've run out of resources. We've kind of run out of divers."
