A woman was killed in a fire early this morning in Armstrong County.
A woman is dead after an overnight fire ripped through her home in Armstrong County, state police said.
Firefighters found the body of Regina Dawn Pearce, 45, inside the back door of the house on Route 1042 in Cowanshannock, according to county coroner Brian K. Myers. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, which was reported at 3:44 a.m. The cause of death is smoke inhalation and the manner is accidental, the coroner said.
The Red Cross said it is assisting four people -- a man and his adult son, daughter and his daughter‘s boyfriend -- with food and clothing. The agency is also providing shelter for the adult children and boyfriend.
