A Mercer County man was arrested this morning and charged with attacking a 9-year-old boy in a Wal-Mart bathroom in Grove City Thursday.
State police said Shawn Michael Miller, 27, followed the boy into the bathroom, grabbed him from behind while the boy was washing his hands and pulled him into a stall and closed the door. Police said the boy managed to escape from the stall for a minute or two before Mr. Miller pulled him back into the stall. The boy then started screaming for his father, who had left the bathroom with his other son, and Mr. Miller let the boy go, according to police.
The boy ran out of the bathroom to find his father. Police said Mr. Miller left the Wal-Mart and fled into the woods behind the store.
State police Lt. Thomas Dubovi said investigators were able to identify Mr. Miller thanks to the store’s surveillance video as well as social media, which prompted people to call police and identify him.
Police arrested Mr. Miller around 8 this morning at his home. He was charged with unlawful restraint and simple assault.
