An Avalon man was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison on Wednesday for raping a 14-year-old girl last year.

Dhaque Jones, 18, pleaded guilty to rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption, unlawful restraint and receiving stolen property. The charges stemmed from an attack in July. Jones and the victim made arrangements for him to buy a wallet, camera case and iPod and were going to meet at Avalon Elementary School. But when they met, police said, he pointed a gun at her and raped her.

Common Pleas Judge Jill E. Rangos also ordered Jones to serve three years’ probation and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
