A bridge on northbound Interstate 79 in Butler County will require $500,000 in emergency repairs after being hit by a truck last month.

The left lane has been closed at the bridge, which crosses East Lancaster Road in Lancaster Township, since March 21. It will remain closed until August as a contractor removes and replaces two damaged beams.

The site is just north of Zelienople. The lane restriction has caused daily northbound backups on I-79.

East Lancaster Road will be closed May 5 through May 24.
