A suicidal man with a gun was taken into custody today after causing a 45-minute lockdown at a nearby elementary school in O'Hara.

The man, whose name was not released, did not threaten anyone and surrendered to police along Kittanning Pike around 12:15 p.m. He will be evaluated at a psychiatric facility, township police said.

Kerr Elementary School in the Fox Chapel Area School District was on lockdown starting at about 11:30 a.m. while police negotiated with the man, believed to be in his 40s.
