An Avonworth Elementary School music teacher accused of raping a young female relative has been ordered released from the Allegheny County Jail.

Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Manning reduced bail for Walter Street today from $100,000 to zero and ordered him released on electronic monitoring pending trial on charges of rape, incest and related offenses.

The judge also ordered that Mr. Street, 59, of Ben Avon, have no contact with the alleged victim.

Mr. Street, an Avonworth teacher since 1989, the former high school band director and a music teacher at the elementary school for the last five years, was arrested in January by Ohio Township police based on rape allegations first raised in 2009.

The alleged victim, now 22, said Mr. Street began raping her at the Ben Avon address when she was 11 and that it continued off and on over a period of several years.
