A longtime municipal official in Harmony is charged with stealing $190,000 from the Beaver County township, KDKA-TV reports.

Lyla Lynn Swan, who has been township secretary for 30 years, was arrested by detectives from the county district attorney's office.

Glen Angus, chairman of the Harmony Board of Commissioners, told the station the secretary’s job has been eliminated.

An interim township manager has been named to oversee finances.

Harmony Township police started investigating alleged financial discrepancies about a year ago. Police Chief James Essek told KDKA he referred it to the district attorney because of a potential conflict of interest. District Attorney Anthony Berosh said the investigation is ongoing.
