A Venango County woman has been charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend during an argument Tuesday night at their home.
Tina Louise Shaffer, 39, of Plum, is in the Venango County Jail, charged with homicide in the death of Lloyd W. Shontz Jr., Pennsylvania State Police said.
Ms. Shaffer told troopers in an interview that she and her boyfriend had argued at their trailer on Wallaceville Road after she told him she was moving out after five years of living together.
She said Mr. Shontz got a pistol out of his bedroom closet, pointed it at himself and threatened to "pull the trigger," Trooper B.K. O'Toole wrote in a criminal complaint. She then told police Mr. Shontz gave her the gun and said, "Shoot me if that's what you want."
The trooper wrote: "Shaffer said, 'I must have pulled the trigger' due to the fact that 'the gun went off' and Shontz backed up a few steps, sat down on the ground and then stated 'I'm paralyzed.'"
Ms. Shaffer's son told troopers he heard the two arguing in the master bedroom about a half-hour before the shooting -- and then a single gunshot. He said he went to the bedroom and found Mr. Shontz leaning against the wall and his mother a foot or two away, police wrote.
The Venango County coroner pronounced Mr. Shontz dead at the scene.
