Shaler police have reopened most of the stretch of Route 8, where a wreck this afternoon shut down all four lanes of traffic between East Pennview Street and Butler Plank Road.

One northbound lane will be closed this evening while a contractor works to clean up diesel fuel spilled in the collision between a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle.

Injuries as a result of the wreck appeared to be minor, Shaler police said.

The Allegheny County hazardous materials team and Shaler firefighters were working to control a diesel fuel spill on the highway and possibly into nearby Pine Creek. Shaler police also said the state Department of Environmental Protection had been contacted.
