Sobriety checkpoints result in arrests

A sobriety checkpoint in West Deer along Route 910 resulted in seven arrests for driving under the influence, six citations for various vehicle code violations and four vehicle code warnings Friday.

The results of the checkpoint conducted by the North Hills DUI Task Force were released today. There were 577 vehicles which passed through the checkpoint.

In addition, a roving DUI patrol in West Deer, Indiana Township and Richland yielded one arrest for DUI under the age of 21, one underage drinking offense, one arrest for drug parphernalia, three citations for various traffic violations and 43 written warnings. There were 47 contacts made.

The North Hills DUI Task Force includes police officers from Etna, Indiana, Northern Regional, O'Hara, Ross, Shaler, West Deer and West View.
