Girl killed in Mercer County 3-car crash

State police are investigating a three-car crash that killed a girl in Mercer County Wednesday night.

Police said the girl, whose name and age were not released, was a passenger in a car driven by William James Cupic, 18, of Mercer.

According to police, Mr. Cupic was traveling south on Route 62 in Coolspring when he lost control on the wet pavement and struck two vehicles heading in the opposite direction. The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. just north of Springfield Church Road. Police said Mr. Cupic and his passenger were not wearing seat belts.

The drivers of the other vehicles, Wendell Boyd, 73, of New Wilmington and James Boughner, 33, of Jackson Center, and a passenger in Mr. Boyd's car, Linda Boyd, 73, also of New Wilmington, were not seriously hurt.
