Ellwood City toddler airlifted to Children's Hospital after crash

A 3-year-old boy was airlifted to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC after being injured in a crash in Lawrence County this afternoon.

According to state police in New Castle, the boy was a passenger in a car driven by Mary Anna Jenkins, 59, of Ellwood City. The vehicle was traveling east on Portersville Road in Wayne around 3:30 p.m. when an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line and hit their car head-on, police said.

Ms. Jenkins was treated for minor injuries at Ellwood City Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, Mark Robert Bacon, 33, of Ellwood City, was not treated for injuries.

According to police, Ms. Jenkins was not wearing a seat belt, and the boy was not properly restrained.
