ART

Sewickley -- St. James Frames Art Show and Reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. April 26 at St. James Church, 200 Walnut St. As part of the Sewickley Spring Gallery Walk, the church will host a reception in the church gathering space with refreshments and a display of artwork by St. James parishioners. In addition, 2014 calendars designed by St. James students will be for sale.

FOR PETS

Ohio Township -- Animal Friends will offer low-cost vaccine, microchip and flea treatments for dogs and cats. Clinics will be held at Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, from 1 to 3 p.m. next Thursday; 1 to 3 p.m. May 9; and 1 to 3 p.m. May 23. Vaccines for rabies, distemper, bordetella and FVRCP, which prevents several illnesses in cats, will be offered for $10 each. Micro-chipping services will be provided for $20. Flea treatments are offered for $5. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. Cash only, no credit cards will be accepted. Spots are limited; register by calling 412-847-7029.

FUNDRAISERS

Cranberry -- St. Barnabas Health System's Hance Award recipient Thomas J. Ridge will be the featured speaker during the St. Barnabas Charities Founder's Gala May 2. The fundraising dinner will be held at the Marriott Pittsburgh North, 100 Cranberry Woods Drive. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund. Shaler -- Rocky's Route 8, 602 Willruth Drive, will host a Family Fun Night fundraiser from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday to help pay for medical treatment for Cameron Howat, a 13-month-old boy who has been diagnosed with fourth-stage cancer. A buffet, beer, wine and soft drinks will be served. A ticket auction, raffles and activities for the kids will be provided. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, no charge for children 5 and under. Reservations are suggested, but tickets will be available at the door. GET INVOLVED

Richland -- St. Barnabas Health System is hosting a Volunteer Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Washington Place at St. Barnabas, 5847 Meridian Road. Volunteers of all ages, talents and abilities are sought to assist with day-to-day operations and various programs held at St. Barnabas' Gibsonia and Valencia campuses. Areas seeking volunteers include the Kean Theatre, St. Barnabas Charities, St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, The Arbors at St. Barnabas and St. Barnabas Hospice. GOLF OUTING

New Kensington -- The Highlands Community Educational Foundation will hold its annual golf scramble May 4 at Oak Lake Golf Course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $75 per golfer and $100 for a tee sponsorship. Or, combine a foursome with a tee sponsorship for $325. The price will include 18 holes of golf with a cart, prizes and trophies, a continental breakfast, food at the turn and lunch at the end. Highlands Community Educational Foundation supports Highlands schools, students, faculty and community by providing mini-grants for various projects and by awarding scholarships to seniors. Richland -- St. Ursula School will hold its Four Man Scramble April 26 at Pittsburgh North Golf Club, 3800 Bakerstown Road. Shotgun start is set for 2 p.m.; dinner and prizes will follow. Cost is $100 per player and includes golf, cart, beer and soda, dinner and prizes. A dinner-only option is available for $30. Business sponsorships are $100; corporate sponsorships are $500. LIBRARIES

Richland -- The Northern Tier Regional Library, 4015 Dickey Road, will hold the following programs:

• Yarn art for teens, 4:30 p.m. Friday. Create household items out of scrap yarn. Information: 724-449-2665.

• A common-sense approach to outdoor design, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Larry Toms, landscaper and partner in Best Feeds Garden Centers, will talk about these and other garden issues. Registration is required; call 724-449-2665.

The library has been selected to participate in the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf. The library will receive a selection of books, films and other resources that explore the people, places, faith and cultures of Muslims in the United States and around the world.

MEETINGS

McCandless -- The Longvue Acres Garden Club will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway. Pat Morgan, Penn State master gardener, will speak on "Organic Pest Control" -- how to reduce pests in the garden without damaging the fragile garden environment.

SALE

Franklin Park -- Little Hill United Methodist Church, 2350 Magee Road Extension, will hold a flea market from 4 to 7 p.m. next Thursday and April 26 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27.

SPECIAL INTEREST

Harrison -- The annual Allegheny Valley Insulator Show and Sale will be held at VFW Post 894, 894 Veterans Lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Information: Tim Grantz at 724-845-6488.
