A Middlesex woman died Sunday when her motorcycle smashed into the back of a pickup on Route 8 in Richland.

Pamela McCarthy, 68, died in the crash, which occurred at about 2:40 p.m. in the 5800 block of William Flynn Highway, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office.

A witness said a pickup heading southbound on Route 8 was waiting to make a left turn into a car dealership when it was rear-ended by Ms. McCarthy's three-wheeled cycle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner's office said an autopsy would probably be performed Monday.
