Karen Boujoukos on Wednesday was appointed to the North Allegheny school board.

Mrs. Boujoukos, of Franklin Park, served on the board for 10 years, leaving the board in 2011.

She was one of 11 candidates interviewed by board members to replace Beth Ludwig, who resigned last month. She said she will not run in the special election in November to fill the remaining two years of Mrs. Ludwig's term.

Mrs. Boujoukos received six votes. Christopher Disque and Timothy Herald, both of McCandless, each received one vote.
