Cranberry police and the Butler County coroner's office are investigating the discovery of human remains in the township.

Police were called to a wooded area along Dutilh Road around 2:30 p.m. after a man who was visiting a patient at nearby UPMC Passavant-Cranberry spotted the remains while walking to Cranberry Mall. Police said the remains are possibly that of a male.

A forensic anthropology team was called to assist at the scene.

Police said there are currently no missing person reports in the township.
